Biblical: Otherwise known as Samael, he is said to be one of the greatest, and also one of the most feared angels operating Heaven. Shamshel represents the severity of God, but also the power to achieve victory over adversity and adversaries through virtue with great power. Shamshel was regarded as the serpent who tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, drawing to himself the position and distinction as Chief of Satans.
Evangelion: The 4th Angel arrives flying in over the city. Its back is what you see first, from a bird's-eye view, and it appears to have two cartoonish, large eyes on the back of its head. It arches its body, lands, and pulls its insect-like legs in, and from its two branch-like shoulders sprouds glowing tentacles. They slice through entire buildings, and burn through the armor plating on Eva-01's hands. It dies when Unit 01 stabs the progressive knife into its S2 Organ (exposed like Sachiel's) and cracks it. The S2 Organ is removed and studied by NERV.
